On June 17, 2013 Office Depot, Inc. (the “Company”) announced that its board of directors had set August 21, 2013 as the date of its annual meeting of shareholders and the close of business on July 11, 2013, as the record date for determining the shareholders entitled to receive notice of and entitled to vote at the 2013 annual meeting of shareholders. In addition to this announcement, the Company will separately send notice and proxy materials to shareholders of record.

Attached hereto as Exhibit 99.1 and incorporated by reference herein is the Company’s press release dated June 17, 2013.

OFFICE DEPOT ANNOUNCES ANNUAL SHAREHOLDERS MEETING DATE

Boca Raton, Fla., June 17, 2013 — Office Depot, Inc. (NYSE: ODP), a leading global provider of office supplies and services, today announced that it will hold its annual meeting of shareholders on Wednesday, August 21, 2013.

Shareholders of record on July 11, 2013 will be eligible to vote at the annual shareholders meeting. The location and time of the meeting will be included in the proxy materials, which will be mailed to shareholders in advance of the meeting.
